4.6　Optical Fiber

4.6.1　Selection of optical fibers shall be based on the combination of such factors as technical conditions of the terminal equipment，segment length and cost.

4.6.2　Optical fibers of the followings types may be selected for submarine cables:

1　Non-dispersion shifted single-mode optical fiber；

2　Cut-off shifted single-mode optical fiber；

3　Non-zero dispersion-shifted single-mode optical fiber；and

4　Dispersion managed optical fiber.
